About Us

The purpose of Invest18 is to share investment information and ideas so all investors can benefit. Knowledge is profit. So, in order to make a profit, we all need knowledge. At Invest18, we believe all investors can profit when we share our knowledge. So, James Kar found Invest18 to achieve such purposes.

James has this idea from teaching finance courses at Portland State University (PSU) in Oregon. He constantly receives questions about investment, ranging from how to open a brokerage account to specific investment ideas. Instead of answering one question at a time, James developed Invest18 so all investors can benefit.

Invest18 provides both educational content and specific investment ideas. Beginning investors can learn the differences in types of orders and different investment available. Experienced investors and traders can get specific ideas for their considerations. Of course, James is not saying all his ideas are good. However, he hopes through comments and questions on Invest18, James can learn from others as well. So, you can treat Invest18 is a place where global investors exchange information and ideas.

A little bit about the founder

James has an undergraduate degree in business (finance) and a master's degree in taxation. He is a practicing certified financial planner (CFP) focusing on global investment. Currently, James is working on his PhD in Systems Science/Finance where he specializes in short-term financial market forecasting. He is also teaching a variety of courses including: Stock Market, Business Finance, Investment, and (stock) Valuation. As an immigrant from Hong Kong, James is developing expertise investing in China, especially the China small-cap stocks listed in US.
